Laneah in da house

This is Laneah's new playhouse. She LOVES it. She grabs her doll and takes her with her into the house and I don't see them for minutes.

Three weddings and a funeral

I will repent and do better from now on. The wedding dress season is over and I can finally relax a little more.

Here are some pictures from what was going on in our lives the last few weeks...

I'm an aunt! Let me introduce Robin, my little nephew...

And the other two dresses I made these past few weeks

Grandma Panhuyzen passed away and we had a really nice funeral service. We sure miss grandma Panhuyzen very much. She left behind a great heritage and we're forever grateful to her for accepting the gospel and teaching it to her children.

It was great to see the whole family again. While we were inside the building where the service took palce somebody broke into our car. How sick is that. Outside the graveyard. Oh well... Among the things they stole were all of our recorded films of Laneah's first year, her birth (yikes - I guess it's on youtube now) and other precious memories. Good thing nobody can steal them from our brains! :)

Laneah and her buddy Adam. Too funny those two. Laneah can finally walk on her own! Video footage coming soon...til later!

ONE!

the cake

Laneah turned one today. Time flies when you're having KIDS!
Laneah loved the wrapping paper and was on a sugar-high all afternoon. Poor thing.
We didn't take too many pictures, we filmed a lot. I'll have to get some more photos from my family.

She's on the phone

I love the John Bytheway song "She's on the phone". It reminds me of my teenage years. I'm so busy sewing wedding dresses people, one day I'll post more.

Out of small things...

My parents-in-law have already 8 grandkids. Might not sound much to many of you but for Dutch standards it is. Believe me.
We went on a vacation with those 8 kids under the age of 8. Doesn't sound like a vacation to most people but we had a blast! Laneah loved to have her nieces and nephews around and we loved all the babysitters so close-by.
Here are some of our favorite shots:

Visiting the sick

While we were Germany last weekend we also visited grandma Hasselbach in the hospital. Laneah loved that she had so much space to walk. It was great to see them, even if it was only for half an hour. Hope to see you again soon!!!

Enough hair!

Hey everyone. Laneah has finally enough hair to do something fun with it. Here she is in all her glory. In front of her new favorite toy. I just dropped in to post this. Laneah is asleep and I need to get behind the sewing machine again to finish that wedding dress. Enjoy the sunshine!

We're back

We're back in Blogland. After being on vacation with Oma and Opa, lots of playdates and other fun times we'll be back to posting here regularly. It's nice enough weather here and we enjoy being outside or behind the sewing machine. Laneah is crawling around the house and nothing is safe anymore. Fun times. Whatever I do she wants to do too. :) She's Mommy's little helper already.

A day off

It took some time to do someything fun today. I made a caterpillar quilt! The very hungry caterpillar is one of my very favorite children's books! I actually didn't like the way this one turned out, so I'll sell it and make another one for Laneah. (or myself...hee hee)

Laneah is big enough to sit in the Quinny stroller now. She absolutely LOVES sitting in it and squeals with excitement whenever she sees a car, dog, bike or anyhting else go by.
Isn't her little beaver smile adorable?

Center Parcs

We're back from a great week of vacation in the "state of happiness" aka Center Parcs in Belgium. We went together with Paddy's cousin and his little family. We had a 5 star cottage with our own Turkish steam shower, sauna, fireplace and a barely big enough fridge for all the yummy food we spoiled ourselves with.

It was Laneah's first time swimming and she LOVED it. Even the flow/wild water rivers and of course the jacuzzi was her favorite. I didn't like the thought of walking around in a swimsuit due to the babyfat that's still clinging to my post-pregnancy belly but I got over it and Greenpeace didn't show up to bring me back to the ocean. Phew!

Laneah loved the vacation so much that she even wanted to play at night and kept us on our toes and out of our beds in the wee hours as well. Good thing we could sleep in. That is 7:00 am in the parents time zone.

We'll go to another Center Parc in August with all of Paddy's family. Can't wait!
Me with eyes closed. About 50% of pictures of me look like that. :)

Mini Mission reunion

We had a special guest from Switzerland this week! Oh, my poor laughing muscles...they're all sore. It's so great to talk about the good old mission times and remember all the funny stories and the great experiences we had. It's like we were companions yesterday. President Winegar once said that our mission friends will be some of our best friends for the rest of our life and he's so right!

Misha was so nice to take us to the beach. Three kids in the back and three RMs in the front. :) Floris wouldn't look, but believe me - he has the cutest eyes ever!

What's so great about talking and being with former companions is that you remember what it was like and you become more like that great sister missionary again. It's really priceless what I learned on Temple Square.

A while ago I talked to a little 6-year-old girl that did NOT want to go on a mission so her Dad sent het to me to talk to her and I showed her my mission scrapbooks and afterwards she so wanted to go: "You do only fun things on a mission. I want to go too!"
